The MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor Module uses a tin dioxide (SnO2) sensing element to detect hydrogen gas concentrations in the surrounding air. As hydrogen levels rise, the sensor’s conductivity increases, producing an analog output voltage that a microcontroller can read directly.
